Sand Filter

The continuous flowing sand filter is a continuous filtration equipment that integrates coagulation, clarification and filtration. It mainly removes suspended solids in the water and directly flows the discharged water into the tank. After removing the SS in the water, it can be automatically discharged.

    Features

    The continuous flowing sand filter is a filter that integrates coagulation, clarification and filtration. Using single-stage filter material, no grading is required, and there are no problems such as uneven hydraulic distribution and primary filtrate;
    1. The unique design of the labyrinth sand washing device completely isolates the cleaning water area from the purified water area, preventing secondary pollution of the purified water area by the cleaning water. The double-layer sand washer design doubles the cleaning effect. Under the same stroke, the turbulence effect doubles. The cleaning water discharge rate is low, generally 3% to 5%, and there is no loss of filter material.
    2. The water distributor adopts a comprehensive design of width and annular water distribution to distribute water evenly. The top of the water distributor is tapered to avoid dead corners. The filter material utilization rate is high, the water head loss is small, and the short circuit of the upward flow water can be avoided.
    3. Filtration and sand washing are performed at the same time, and it can run continuously and automatically for 24 hours without shutting down for backwashing. The ingenious sand lifting and sand washing mechanism replaces the traditional high-power backwashing system, and the energy consumption is low.
    4. The system operates automatically. The filter does not have any rotating parts except the filter material during operation. The failure rate is low, maintenance costs are saved, management is simple, and it can be left unattended.
    By adding chemical phosphorus removal agent iron salt or aluminum salt, TP and some suspended solids and organic matter in the raw water can be effectively removed.

    Working Principle

    The entire continuous sand filter includes water path, sand path and air path:
    1. Waterway: Raw water enters the sand filter system through the water inlet pipe located at the upper part of the equipment, and is evenly distributed across the entire filter bed section through the water distributor located at the bottom of the filter. It flows upward through the filter material layer and is filtered by the filter bed. It intercepts and filters pollutants in the raw water, and the filtered filtrate overflows from the outlet weir at the top of the filter bed to the outlet pipe.
    2. Sand road: While the raw water is filtered through the filter bed, the content of pollutants in the filter material continues to increase, and the content of pollutants in the lower filter material layer is higher than that of the upper filter material. The contaminated sand slides evenly along the sand guide hopper to the cone hopper at the bottom. The air lift pump located in the center of the filter lifts the filter material on the bottom layer to the sand washer on the top of the filter for cleaning under the action of compressed air. In the process of the compressed air lifting the turbulent flow of the sand particles, the compressed air can initially scrub and separate the contaminants adhered to the sand particles, and be lifted to the sand washer on the top of the sand filter. The sand particles slide down along the gap of the bellows-shaped sand washer. A small amount of filtrate flows from bottom to top along the gap of the bellows, and is washed with the quartz sand falling from the top in multiple directions and countercurrents. The clean sand returns by its own weight. At the top of the sand bed, the entire sand washing process continues continuously and slowly. At the same time, washing machines containing a large amount of suspended solids. The sand wastewater is discharged through the sand washing wastewater discharge pipe.
    3. Air path: The circulation of sand relies on the lifting effect of compressed air, and the air is released at the top of the riser tube. Through the pneumatic control cabinet, the amount and pressure of compressed air entering each set of filter components is controlled, thereby adjusting the filter material circulation speed and flushing intensity. Since the filter material moves from top to bottom in the filter, it stirs the raw water, so the flocculation can be completed in the filter. The filter material in the filter is cleaned in time and can withstand high concentrations of incoming water pollutants. The special internal structure and characteristics of the continuous quartz sand filter allow coagulation, clarification and filtration to be completed in the same pool.
